Dear Mr Springborg (OPEN LETTER FOR PUBLICATION)
I would like to let you know that I voted for your party because you promised to get rid of fluoridation. The Courier Mail published an article in March 2009 in which it was stated:
“Mr Springborg said his government would ensure that Queensland Health monitored any impacts of fluoridating the water supply and would provide the public with information on whether it improved public health.
In an interview with The Courier-Mail, he said it was “appalling” that there was no hard evidence in Queensland about the effects of fluoride on public health.“
So what has changed Mr Springborg? Today I read on the ABC news website that you have done an about-face:
Is it any wonder the public don’t trust politicians and their promises?
The government in a bi-partisan approach have merely rubber-stamped the false claims and proclamations of the pro-fluoride lobby group (ADA etc) without any independent investigation. Were you aware that the Queensland government had become the covert target of a propaganda campaign initiated by the ADA and supported by the federal government? Were you aware that under FOI it was discovered that the ADA asked for and received $200,000 from Anna Bligh’s Health Minister, Stephen Robertson, to promote ‘fluoridation’. ADA’s colleagues at the AMA sent a letter to Dr. Jeannette Young, Chief Health Officer Queensland Health: Extract from FOI : “The AMA believes the ‘strategic approach’ referred to in your letter must be for Government to mandate water fluoridation throughout the State. The approach to encourage individual councils to adopt fluoridation of their own volition has failed.”
History of the current fluoridation stranglehold Queensland finds itself in:
1) The 2004 Oral Health Policy document was developed by the fluoride lobby (John Spencer and ADA) and infiltrated the Federal Government to become policy that they would drive via COAG inducements. (Attached).
Queensland however proved to be a tough nut because local government had the power to choose whether to fluoridate, and the majority of people always voted against.
2) So this next policy analysis (A Paralysis in Public Health Policy) started to cook up the strategy to fluoridate Queensland. Basically it revolved around removing the right of choice from its citizens. See attached.
3) The jaw-dropper for me however was my discovery of Michael Foley’s powerpoint presentation to Japanese dentists, advising them of how to introduce mandatory fluoridation to Japan by using the same successful strategies as they had used in Queensland. Here it is: an open admission of misleading propaganda tools to manipulate the outcome.
It advised what to say, what not to say, what statistics to hide and what to promote. It sought to make opponents look ridiculous and advised never to accept a challenge to public debate. These are shocking revelations of deceptive media tactics. You can see how fluoridation has been politicised. It has nothing to do with genuine concern for people’s health or getting to the truth of the matter. […] I believe we now have enough evidence to warrant an enquiry into misleading and deceptive conduct associated with the push for fluoridation and the deprivation of rights of choice of Queenslanders.
Where is the investigation into fluoride’s toxic effects on vulnerable population sub-groups like people with kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, thyroid dysfunction? Diseases of an inflammatory calcifying nature can result from fluoride toxicity because fluoride causes oxidative stress and attracts calcium deposits in the soft tissue and joints – and yes, even in the arteriosclerotic lining of the arteries. How many people do you know with heart disease Mr Springborg? Are you not concerned about the little babies consuming too much and having neurotoxic effects? Have a look at this latest study review of October 2012 Mr Springborg: Developmental Fluoride Neurotoxicity: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis – http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/2012/10/developmental-fluoride-neurotoxicity-a-systematic-review-and-meta-analysis/
How can you condone the dosing (medication) of a population without medical monitoring of side effects and without the express permission of the people being medicated? How can you condone the dumping of a toxic S6-7 POISON in our water supply? Hexafluorosilicic acid (or hydrofluorosilicic acid) contains heavy metal contaminants and has never been proven safe for ingestion in any study in the world. How would you know it’s safe, and particularly for Queenslanders who are more likely to be exposed to higher levels of fluoride via drinking more water and via fluoride content in bore water used to irrigate crops. One must responsibly account for total fluoride exposure and work out adequate margin of safety. This is not possible with fluoridation and the insidious nature of fluorides now contained in foods and medications.
It is time to put an end to this archaic 1950’s practice that Europe, Japan and most Asian countries have abandoned on the grounds that there is no adequate margin of safety and fluoridation removes the choice of the individual to be medicated or not.
Please don’t bow to the pressure from the fluoridation lobbyists (ADA and AMA) and federal government health minister. Just as we had to eventually acknowledge that lead should be eliminated from petrol, or that asbestos should not be used in building materials, or that smoking was indeed harmful to health, we must now also accept that fluoridation is toxic and harmful to human and environmental health. We must now turn off the dosing machines and move on to a better and healthier future.
Mrs S. Sanderson
